Just like you, cats appreciate a clean bowl since they take their hygiene very seriously. They like it sparkling clean and somewhat wide so it doesn’t fatigue their whiskers. Taking trouble to find a good cat feeding bowl will not only benefit your cat but you as well.
The Best Cat Food Bowls
We have picked out and reviewed our favourite cat food bowls that are available in the UK.
Disclaimer: we own the Super Design slanted cat bowl – we think it is excellent, which is why it comes out on top of our rankings.
SUPER DESIGN Mess Free Slanted Cat Bowl
We love the SUPER DESIGN mess free slanted cat bowl, and it comes out top on our ratings. The bowl is a weighted bowl which makes it stable and it has a great feel when you unbox it. The metal bowl sits in the outer bowl which makes it very easy to top up and clean. The metal bowl fits extremely well in the outer shell, making it extremely difficult for a cat to make a mess of their food.
We love the raised angle of the bowl, which makes the bowl extremely easy to eat from for our older cats. The width of the bowl is sufficient that your cats whiskers don’t touch the side, and the overall size of the bowl is large enough for even the largest meal. The bowl is completely dishwasher safe which makes it a breeze to clean and it comes out as our highest rated cat bowl.
Pros
- Durable and easy to clean stainless steel inserts
- Anti-slip base
- Weighted base which keeps the bowl stable
- The raised bowl and 15 degree angle make it easy for older cats to eat
- Dishwasher safe
Cons
- The anti slip base does slide very slightly if wet
Catit Double Dinner White
The Catit is a double delight that comes with two cat bowls. This allows you to separate dry foods and wet foods or food and water depending on what you feed the cat. The inserts are made from stainless steel which makes it superbly easy for you to clean and difficult for bacteria to inhabit. Both bowls are dishwasher safe and have an anti-slip pad which makes it a lot easier for your cat to feed without chasing the bowl across the room.
Pros
- Durable and easy to clean stainless steel inserts
- Anti-slip base
- Dishwasher safe
- The bowls are multi-purpose
- Difficult to knock over
Cons
- The labels inside the bowls are stuck with glue
Comsmart Stainless Steel Pet Cat Bowl
A cat bowl is also an opportunity for you to bring some colour into your home. The Comsmart cat bowl is perfect for cat owners that love a bit of colour and its features make sure your pet is safe and well taken care of while eating.
The bowls are made from stainless steel and can handle just about any type of cat food and water. They have the capacity to hold up to 8 ounces of food so you don’t have to constantly refill the bowls and the skid proof rubber holds the bowl in place as your cat has its meal so there is no spilling and bowl chasing during feeding time.
Pros
- Stainless steel build for durability and easier cleaning
- Skid proof rubber holds the bowl in place
- Can be easily hand washed
- Come in a wide range of vibrant colors
Cons
- The cat image is wiped off if you put the bowl in the dishwasher a couple of times
3 Pieces Cat Bowl Non Slip
If by any chance your cat might have whispered her favourite colour to you, you have a choice of up to four colours to choose from just to add some personality to the feeding bowl. Other than the colour, this set of cat feeding bowls also has a wide range of features that you and your cat are going to love.
The two bowls are made from stainless steel which is known for its many benefits in the cat feeding world like ease of cleaning and the stand is made from melamine which gives the feeding platform a bit of weight and sturdiness.
The stand also has a non-skid base to make feeding a lot easier and the cat bowls can be removed and thrown into the dishwasher for easier cleaning. The raised design will make it much easier for the cat to feed putting less strain on its shoulders and neck.
Pros
- It is a comprehensive feeding solution for your cat
- The bowls are removable and dish washable
- Non-slip base
- Raised stand for easier feeding
Cons
- The bowls are slightly deep and might not favor flat-faced cats
Nobby Ceramic Cat Double Bowl
Other than stainless steel, ceramic is the other option that has been found to be safe for cats and equally easy to clean. If for one reason or another you would rather stay away from a stainless steel cat food bowl, this is a worthy alternative.
It comes in a range of different colours that will help to blend in with the rest of the house décor and the finishing with the word ‘CAT’ and fishbone art helps to give it a little bit of personality. Ideally, a ceramic cat feeding bowl is heavier than a stainless steel one and in many cases will not require a non-slip base to function but this one does not leave anything to chance.
The product is made from quality materials and the finishing is top notch so you don’t have to worry about the colour fading and having to put up with an ugly looking cat bowl.
Pros
- Strong and sturdy ceramic cat bowl
- Easy to clean
- Wide range of colors to choose from
- Dual bowls for all kinds of foods and water
Cons
- Extra care should be taken not to drop the bowl from great heights because it can chip or break

How we chose which bowls to review
As cat owners for all of our lives, we have had our fair share of cat bowls. Before beginning this review, we thoroughly researched the highest rated cat bowls on the market, and identified a range of brands to include in our reviews.
Once a shortlist was created, we whittled these down using a number of criteria to cover a broad range of bowl types and prices. During this process there is a chance that we may have excluded a product that may have ultimately come out on top of our ratings due to the criteria that we chose. We tried to choose a range of normal, raised, duos and different sized bowls to offer a broad comparison.
Once we had our final shortlist, each cat bowl was purchased and compared side by side for build quality, ease of use, cleanliness etc. This ultimately resulted in us rating each product and displaying them in this guide from highest to lowest rated. Following this review we continued to use the SUPER DESIGN Mess Free Slanted Cat Bowl as our main cat bowl for our cats.
Conclusion
If you are looking for ways to improve your cat’s experience during feeding time, a good and well thought out cat food bowl should do the trick. You could also use this opportunity to spruce up your home and bring in some colour and we have made sure that you have plenty to choose from so both you and your cat benefit.
There was very little performance difference between the bowls we tested, but we preferred the larger bowls that were slightly weighted which caused less slippage whilst being used.
